I created five illustrations for Faber-Castell (Guangzhou) on this project: one for the cover and four for the separator pages. As it is a stationery company, they requested that the illustrations on the inside pages be partially colored to allow customers to engage with them using colored pencils, fostering interaction.
Each illustration represents a significant national treasure in Chinese history. The inspiration for the cover illustration comes from the Tri-colored Glazed Pottery Camel with Musicians, renowned as one of the finest examples of tri-colored glazed pottery from the Tang Dynasty (618 to 906 A.D.). It depicts a lively scene of musicians playing instruments while riding a camel, displaying their immersion in the music.
The other four treasures depicted include the Human-head-shaped Mouth Colored Pottery Bottle from the Neolithic period, the Fuhao Owl-shaped Bronze Wine Goblet from the Shang Dynasty (1600 to 1046 B.C.), the Changxin Palace Lantern from the Han Dynasty (206 B.C. to 220 A.D.), and the Cloisonné Enamel Dragon Flower Pattern Melon-shaped Lidded Jar from the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1911 A.D.).
